Save Democracy From Bureaucracy

Save democracy from bureaucracy

Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate.

As far as India is concerned, they could not prescribe some qualifications for those whop are entering politics nor they could stop entry of lower qualified people in the houses. Up till now we could not prescribe qualifications for the post of minister and we have noted that ministers are appointed just to share seats amongst the alliances. That could be one of the reason that forced the bureaucracy to reign in this country. Most of the orders are passed by the bureaucrats and then they get signature of the political head and they are creating an artificial show hat here in India we are maintaining democracy. We could not admit that a qualified person would not obey the orders of a person who is possessing lower qualifications and we must also accept a psychological fact that a man with lower qualifications cannot dare to pass orders and ask a better qualified person to obey that order. Therefore, if any country wants that democracy should not turn into a bureaucracy, the people and state shall have to see that proper people be inducted in politics and that is possible only if we prescribe some minimum qualifications for those who want entry in politics. If that is not possible at present, we should come forward with introduction of ’shadow cabinet system’ so that political parties may be able to choose able persons for minister-ship and those who are getting place in such nominations should give their complete bio data so that the people who are the real owners of the country should see that they are electing a proper person for the post of minister of particular department/departments.

As far as India is concerned, here qualified people are not coming forward because they think that this politics in India is a dirty game and they are not able to run in this race. They know that most of the pronouncements and most of the slogans are not true and they are misleading the people of India. If we count all the slogans and pronouncements and assurances given to the people by these politicians update, we shall be surprised that very few of those slogans and assurances had been carried out and the remaining are lost in history and that is the reason most of the people in India are still poor, unemployed, houseless, wearing rags, starving and all that it has been done in a country which at one stage had been called ‘a golden sparrow’. India is a rich country because it has got mountains, rivers, jungles, minerals, fertile land, gas, petroleum, coal, hard working people, different seasons and the rains. All these basics are present in India, but still we are still legging behind and we could not get entry in the list of advanced countries. This is a tragedy with us and if we go deep into the causes of legging behind, we shall find that lower qualified people in politics is the main cause and till we go out of these sets of politicians, we shall not be able to get entry in the list of advanced countries.

People are the owners and masters of this country and therefore, they should see the way out. They must compel the political parties for forwarding ’shadow cabinets’ and this shall be the first way out because with this introduction all lower qualified people shall stop joining politics because they shall never get the berth of minister because of their qualifications. This is one way out and this is the only way out, because the state would never prescribe qualifications for the politicians. They themselves had been creating so many situations for accommodating large number of political people on the administration side and they all have converted this democracy of us into a bureaucracy. All these state level assemblies and situations of chairmen and chairperson had been established so that more and more people could be adjusted and they collect more and more money. There had been something wrong when we were framing our constitution. Only one parliament was enough because all the areas are represented in that parliament and we are having one citizenship, one parliament was sufficient to frame laws for the country. Time shall come when we shall have to abolish these state level legislative assemblies and all the jobs of chairmen and chairpersons. If some qualifications are prescribed, then the bureaucracy shall be working under these politicians, but till these lower qualified people are in the field, there is no chance that the bureaucracy could function under these people. And the bureaucracy shall be having the upper hand though these people are not the nominees of the people. Since there is no alternative, the people are bearing all this.

Fraud Websites & Investment Scams

April 6th, 2008

Recognizing The Signs of Fraud

Financial scams have been on the rise around the world, and unfortunately, have been rising in sophistication. Fraud was introduced to the Internet most notably by the Nigeria 411 scams, i.e. advance fee fraud. That was then, this is now.

Scammers today are using worldwide access to the Internet to their advantage. Accounts such as webhosting a new website, bank and credit accounts can now be easily opened on the Internet, from any location. Having some false identification gives the scammer the upper hand here, as he has essentially created an alias with little, if any, traceable information.

The False Website Approach

Many financial scams are taking the form of the classic advance fee fraud, but with a higher level of sophistication and tactics. Websites are often created with templates or a design is stolen from another reputable and legal investment company. Once the site is complete, the criminal has created what appears to be a legitimate website and company. The headquarters for these fictitious firms are often located in the United States, so the website claims. These sites are mearly a tool for fraud.

How to distinguish a real investment website from a fraudulent one? Search Google and Yahoo for the company to determine if there are other sites referencing the firm. Check the site itself to see if the firm has contact information. A website without an address or phone number is a red flag for potential fraud or scam. Search phone directories for the firm’s telephone number. Lastly, check with the SEC’s website for signs on how to recognize these investment scams, and to verify registration of the firm.

Knowing the Signs of Fraud

Although the level of sophistication in these scams continues to rise, an educated consumer can know the difference. Scammers today always contact their victims with an offer - the potential victim has been selected. The firm representative may speak perfect English, and even understand investments and asset management. He may even request you submit an IRS form and other documents. Bottom line, this person will request personal data and/or payment promptly and without ever meeting you. Be skeptical and ask for the firms’ references and SEC filing.

Getting Verification

If you’ve searched the Internet for references, checked local phone listings, maybe even contacted the SEC for verification, and spoke with company representatives and claimed references - and you’re still not sure? Contact a professional investigation company, like Wymoo International or Philippine PI for help. Get the facts on who your dealing with - then decide.

All the Best,

S. Birch
